I’m a big ol’ country fan. By old I mean 70′s and 80′s. Is that old? I don’t feel the familiarity with what constitutes country these days. I don’t know if it is because I am an old fogey, or if it just isn’t that great of a sound. Or maybe it is you just what you are familiar with and associate it with the stuff you grow up listening to?
Well, maybe George Jones was a little ahead of my time, but I certainly heard plenty of him on the radio while a kid. I can’t think of many that sang as many heart felt songs as he did. It was a sad day when he passed, and here are a couple of tributes to him by other artists of my teenage years. They sure look like they are getting long in the tooth, I suppose that means I am too.
Woo Hoo Rangers win
Well the Rangers were able to overcome Hollands slight meltdown and get a come from behind win over the Angels last night. West coast games kill me. I tried to stay up but I dozed off while Frasor was warming up. Getting up at 5 makes those late games tough.
But Rangers won, and that is all that counts. Also they are tied with the best record in the AL. We’ll take it!
My Second screen a bit more colorful.
I got tired of my home screen and started messing around with UCCW. Inspired by all the other themers out there who blow me away.

The Bibliotheca Apostolica, as the Vatican Library is known, is one of the oldest libraries in the world and contains nearly 90,000 historic books, documents, papyrus texts and other ancient treasures. In order to preserve and make them available to scholars and historians around the world, the Vatican is embarking upon a multi-year project to digitize, store, archive and put the entire collection on line.
EMC is working with systems integrator partner Dedagroup, and providing 2.8 petabytes of storage capacity — enough to store the 40 million pages of digitized manuscript — across our industry-leading Isilon, Atmos, Data Domain, Networker and VNX solutions over the initial three years of the project. Content will be preserved in an ISO-certifiable digital format that will protect the delicate texts from the deterioration and decay that can be caused by repeated handling.
EMC’s sponsorship forms part of our ‘Information Heritage Initiative’, which works to protect and preserve the world’s information for future generations and make it globally accessible in digital form for research and education purposes. In this instance, we are truly “Preserving the Vatican’s Treasures”.
Texas A&M has developed and proposed a pretty interesting piece of hardware to help remove all the space junk floating around the Earth. The Aggies proposal utilizes the momentum from the debris itself to help fuel an efficient and novel way to remove the just that poses a danger to active satellites and other missions in space.
